Toastmaster
How to be the Toastmaster

Toastmaster: The key role of the Toastmaster is to act as a genial host and conduct the entire meeting program. The Toastmaster creates an atmosphere of interest, expectation and warmth.

The Toastmaster is the Master of Ceremonies for the meeting. Introduces participants, keeps the meeting moving at a constant pace, prints out agendas, determines a meeting theme and creates an atmosphere of interest, expectation and receptivity.  The Toastmaster can help the speaker make sure they are ready if they have a powerpoint presentation.

1) Decide on a Meeting Theme for the Day- Speak about this theme throughout the meeting while paying attention to the time.  There are many resources on this page to give you ideas about a theme including Quotation Search, Quotes, On this Day, links to Holidays information etc.  (Above and Beyond: You can go into www.easy-speak.org, Login, Go to Meetings [on the red bar across the top] Meeting on the date you are Toastmaster, type in a meeting theme in the Meeting Theme box, click on [Edit Meeting Text] beneath this box and click Save on the far right when yiou're done)

2) Print Agendas- Please print enough so that everyone has a copy.  Go to www.easy-speak.org, Login, Go to Meetings [on the red bar across the top] Meeting on the day you are Toastmaster, on the far right there is a button with a picture that looks like a printer and Agenda next to it.  Please note that it will not let you print agedas until everyone's manual and title are included.  If there are any issues with that, please stay in touch with one of the Officers.

3) Introduce the Inspirator/Warm Up (If Applicable), Speakers, Table Topics Master and the General Evaluator - Introduce all of these different roles based on what has been signed up for on Easy Speak.  Go to www.easy-speak.org, Login, Go to Meetings [on the red bar across the top] Meeting on the date you are Toastmaster, to see who has signed up for what.  If no one has signed up you may want to assist the Officers in finding someone to take on those roles.  (Above and Beyond - You can do an introduction for each speaker, saying what their job title is, etc. while introducing them - you may want to look them up in CLUES or discuss with them beforehand).
