Meeting Theme HALLOWEEN
Word of the Day Macabre
We started off on a new foot last week - everyone is expected to roll up by 6.15pm in future
so that we can all get settled in and start the meetings on time and finish on time. First time out
on Thursday worked well thank you everybody. Let's keep it up.
Meeting happenings:
Tony performed the Sgt,@Arms role efficiently as usual with the room well laid out and everything
ready for action.
Toastmaster Jo did a fabulous job using the Halloween theme to segue from one speaker to another
smoothly and without interruption. Jo has just finished her degree at Cant.U. Congratulations.
Win gave her icebreaker speech, telling us about her amazing clinical co-ordinator's job at
ChCh Hospital and her responsibilities. Great to know you have our backs Win if we end up in
hospital - heavens forbid. Win showed no signs of first time nerves and gave a great speech
with confidence and aplomb.
Gail gave us an unusual speech called a "Roast" the opposite of a "Toast" where the guest of
honor is subjected to good-natured jokes at their expense intended to amuse the audience.
Gail did a great job as a "smiling assassin" and had us all in stitches. (No,St John Ambulance
did not need to be called).
Leigh performed anoher unusual type of speech we haven't seen before where she sat in a
chair looking away from the audience and appearing to be reiminiscing about memories she
had about Miss Fozzard. she had us hanging on her everu word.
Tabletopicsmaster Glenn used the Halloween theme to provide topics for the speakers
who all did a great job including our 3 guests Cheney, Tram and Patrick.
Timer Leela who has also finished her studies and achieved her academic goals, diid a
splendid job of timing everybody's speeches.
Overall a really good night and all speakers excelled themselves. Well done T0ASTMASTERS
one and all.
