Meeting notes 6/11/14

Toastmaster Julie asked fellow toastmasters if they

knew Australians call themselves "The Lucky Country".

She suggested that "NZ is the VERY Lucky Country" and

asked Toastmasters to share their good luck

with those less fortunate by supporting the

City Mission Foodbank.

Bard  Will ,read a fabulously humourous literary

piece that had his audience roaring with laughter.

Great choice Will and your stunning Bard will be

hard to beat by future Bards.

Three very fine speeches tonight:

1st Speaker Shailesh with "Living with cluster"

gave us an in-depth look at 'cluster headaches'

CH is one of the most painful types

of headache and commonly awakens you in the

middle of the night with intense pain in or around

one eye on one side of your head. Cluster periods
may last from weeks to months and there appears

to be no cure to date. A very interesting speech

Shailesh which will add to our knowledge. Well done.

2nd Speaker Carolina,  with "Across the US of A -

More than a Road Trip (Part 1)" took us on a 50 State

illustrated adventure across thousands of miles of

gorgeous scenery and and tales  of climbing mountains

 and walking till she dropped..

Her speech inspired  us to want to get out

and explore the beauty of America - but NOT to encounter

Minnesota's unofficial State Bird - the mosquito!!

Great welcome back speech, Carolina and we look

forward to the next speech in your trilogy.

3rd Speaker Leigh with "The Dating Game" told us that

if and when "we find ourselves on the heap again" we

should "sit back and relax and let Cupid do the work".

She suggested when looking for a new mate that we try

not to appear desperate and wondered why some

scientist hasn't invented an "anti-desperation roll-on".

Leigh described a hilarious dating chat-up line she

endured in London  where her would-be suitor asked

her  "guess a number". "Seven", she said. "Wrong",

he said, "Get your clothes off". How gallant is that?

He advice is to be cool not deperate.

Such a great humourous speech Leigh . Very

entertaining and a rollicking good laugh for us all.

Fabulous speech from a great speaker.

TableTopicsMaster Owen had 'holidays' as his theme.

-Richard spoke to Show Day

-Saurabh spoke to Christmas Day

-Aman spoke toNew Year's Eve/Day

-Ryan Jay spoke to Guy Fawkes Day fire works

-Graeme spoke to Anzac Day

-Nic spoke to Boxing Day

Everybody enjoyed giving their table topic speeches

and we all enjoyed listening to them. Well done

everybody.

Timer Aman did a great job at his first chance to play

a meeting role.
