Who are we?
We are a group of people of varying ages and lifestyles who meet once a week to practice our communication and leadership skills. We range from veteran Toastmasters to newbies, and our supportive environment encourages members to work towards their goals at their own pace. Our meetings follow a formal agenda, but our culture is relaxed and we always have a lot of fun! We work hard to improve our speaking, listening, and evaluation skills but make sure we have plenty of laughs along the way.
What are our meetings like?
As a lunch time club, we have just one hour to get through our entire agenda, so you can imagine that we are very effective with time management! A normal meeting starts with an introductory session, during which we practice giving and replying to toasts, delivering jokes, and sharing tools and techniques. A formal speech session follows, where a member will deliver a prepared speech. During the Table Topics session, we practice impromptu speaking by answering questions posed by the Table Topics Master of the day and finally, in our evaluation session, we give and receive feedback on everything that happened during the meeting.
Throughout the year we hold some "special" meetings that don't adhere to the traditional format. These might include contests, debates, improv games, mock trials, or themed Table Topics - we like to shake things up from time to time!
